| Job Description |
The National Sleep Foundation (NSF) seeks a Communications/Public Information Manager to work closely with the Senior Director of Communications to implement communications strategies, manage media relations efforts and produce and/or oversee key organization written and electronic communications. The ideal candidate will be a prolific and adaptable writer, knowledgeable of the public relations discipline and eager to advance public awareness of sleep and health.
Responsibilities:
• Write press releases, media alerts, fact sheets and key NSF correspondence;
• Conduct proactive outreach and reactive response to media regarding NSF stories and initiatives;
• Produce NSF Alert, NSF’s weekly electronic newsletter;
• Work closely with the Web team to develop feature articles, promotions, interactive tools and other online products;
• Write and edit feature articles for SleepMatters, NSF’s quarterly print publication;
• Write and edit various feature articles;
• Write and edit educational brochures on sleep and related topics;
• Produce NSF's annual report.
Qualifications:
• Three years professional experience in media or journalism; experience in Web production, publishing or marketing also helpful;
• Bachelor's degree or higher in journalism, marketing, life sciences or related fields;
• Ability to write for a variety of audiences (e.g., medical, lay) using a range of editorial styles (e.g., news, magazine and Web);
• Interest in public health preferred;
• Spanish fluency is a plus.
