FAQs About PRSA Nominations |
If you think you might want to run for a chapter leadership position, please read this! Note that in order to run for office you must be a member of both National PRSA and of the National Capital Chapter (NCC).
Why does NCC have a process for members to nominate other members or themselves for elected positions?
Our chapter has grown so large that the Nominating Committee simply may not know which members currently have the talent, desire and time to serve. Also, self-nomination helps us identify interested and motivated candidates for the open positions.
Should I "nominate" myself?
Absolutely! You can express why you want to serve better than anyone else. This also assures the Nominating Committee that you have the time to fulfill the obligation. We don't want to make any assumptions about anyone's time or interest.
I'm really busy. Do I have to fill out the Nomination Form?
Yes. Even long-time chapter leaders are required to fill out forms. Filling out the form shows your willingness and commitment to volunteer your time. Also, we want to know what skills and experiences you bring to leadership.
Will I get a phone call to discuss my options before the slate is announced?
The Nominating Committee will call everyone who submits an application and options can be discussed at that time. While you indicate on the form what position you want to pursue, you can note whether or not you might consider other positions as well.

When and how do I apply?
Please apply on or before September 10, 2011. You may complete the application online or download the printed nomination form and mail your completed application to the chapter office or email it to the Chapter Secretary, Sylvia Aguilera, sylvia_aguilera@comcast.net. You also can fax your form to the chapter office, 703-691-0866.
