Go to the Membership Section of the National PRSA website. There you'll find a membership application that you can fill out and submit online. Be sure to select National Capital Chapter as your chapter.

What are the benefits of joining the National Capital Chapter?

PRSA-NCC members have convenient and affordable access to one of the most powerful professional and career development networks in the country. Key benefits of chapter membership include:

  • Jobline — An on-line resource for jobseekers and employers that is a must for serious candidates.
  • Professional recognition/awards program — A high-profile program that recognizes outstanding work and contributions to the chapter and community.
  • New professionals program — A special networking and professional development track for practitioners with less than 10 years of experience.
  • Leadership opportunities — A practical pathway to serve the chapter while building skills and contacts.
  • Public service — Pro bono opportunities that meet real needs and provide real experience to volunteers.

How much does it cost to join?

There are several levels of membership. Click here to find out the cost and which level is appropriate for you.

Must I join National PRSA to become a chapter member?

National PRSA membership is a prerequisite for full chapter membership. However, the chapter does have a couple of categories that permit you to join just the chapter under certain circumstances as an affiliate with limited member benefits.

Individuals can affiliate with the chapter for $75 as a New Professional Affiliate. Companies and their representatives can join for $300 as a Supplier Affiliate.

Do you publish a salary survey?

Yes, National PRSA, together with IABC (the International Association of Business Communicators) produced a comprehensive salary survey in 2000. The survey results were published and can be purchased from National PRSA at www.prsa.org.

Does the chapter sell its mailing list?

Yes. However, use of the list is strictly limited to educational opportunities or programs which would be of special interest to NCC members. The fee for one time use of the list (on pressure sensitive labels) is $300. The list, which consists of about 1150 names, can also be provided electronically. Contact Sherri Core, the chapter manager, for additional information.
