Learn What It Takes to Write a Winning Proposal Today
Hear the latest trends for landing new business in today’s more competitive, social media-oriented environment from a communications professor who teaches public relations and is herself the author of a successful recent proposal:
Rochelle Larkin Ford, Ph.D., APR
Associate Dean of Research and Academic Affairs and
Assistant Professor in the advertising/public relations sequence
John H. Johnson School of Communications, Howard University
In addition to her teaching, research and administrative functions in the field of communications, Dr. Ford recently envisioned and wrote a proposal that was accepted by the Carnegie Corporation of New York to fund a global initiative on Democracy, Markets, Communication, and Technology. The first activity for this initiative will be a symposium – “The Health Care Discussion: People, Environment, and Policy” – set for April 27 at Howard University.
Dr. Ford’s areas of professional expertise are diversity, public relations pedagogy and strategic communications management. An accredited public relations professional, she is the author of PRTactics’ monthly column “Diversity Dimensions” and a practicing PR consultant working with several Washington, DC area agencies.

What are the critical components?
What’s the appropriate amount of info to include to show your strategic thinking and creativity, without giving away all the good stuff for free?
Should you offer to conduct research and provide evaluation and measurement?
How is the digital era impacting proposal writing and expectations?
Do clients even read proposals or do they just skip to the timeline and budget page?
If the potential client has a budget of $25K, should you refer to examples of past client work that involved multi-million dollar budgets?
