What do a flash mob, the Washington Business Journal, 65 nonprofit public relations executives and bruschetta have in common? Those were the elements at the 2013 Association/Nonprofit networking event at Gordon Biersch on Wednesday, June 5.
The highlight of the evening was when 20 flash mob dancers from Vocus did their routine outside of the restaurant and then came inside to repeat the dance for more than 65 nonprofit staff members and suppliers. The Washington Business Journal covered the flash mob event posting video to their website.
Following the flash mob, the nonprofit executives enjoyed meeting one another and sharing best practices while eating bruschetta, BBQ sliders, and mushroom skewers. Several communication professionals from the American Society of Association Executives joined the group. They had just come from the national ASAE Membership, Marketing Communications conference held in Washington, D.C., June 4-5.
As the Association/Nonprofit Committee Chair, Christie Phillips welcomed the attendees, the Association/Nonprofit Board Liaison, Sheri Singer talked about upcoming NCC events, and Association/Nonprofit committee members Aaron Ellis and Alysa Reich covered the busy registration table. In addition, committee member Jimmy Minichello took fabulous photos. Membership Committee Chair, Laura Bynam did a great job meeting the nonmembers and actually ran out of materials.
Thanks to all for the most successful Association/Nonprofit event in our four-year history. Mark your calendar for the November 6 for the professional development session for Associations and Nonprofits at the Pepco Gallery.
