Why did you join PRSA-NCC?
I joined PRSA-NCC to give my time and commitment to an organization that supports PR professionals from all walks of life.

How long have you been in the PR field?
I have been in the PR field for 7 years

What was your first job in the profession?
I was the Communications Specialist at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies in Washington, DC

Tell us about your range of experience and/or your greatest skills.
My skills range from media relations to event planning and logistics. My greatest skills are telling good stories that are appealing to the media and being an advocate for communication and change.

What’s your greatest career achievement?
My greatest career achievement was deciding to use my early career as a journalist and transition into PR.

What are your current career/professional goals?
My current professional goals are to continue to work hard, land solid media placements and continue to be an advocate for my organization

How would you describe your professional philosophy?
My professional philosophy is simple. “Do what works”

What’s your dream job?
Working for an organization that has a huge community responsibility and works to make a difference in the lives of others. In this role, I would love to be the corporate liaison for community affairs.

Who would you consider to be your mentor, and why?
My mentor is Laysha Ward, Target's VP of community relations. She is amazing and loves giving back. She has a solid career in PR and told me one day to work hard and go for what I want in life.

Offer any advice you have for maintaining work/life balance.
Take vacation even if you don’t have any place to go and only do what you can and put yourself first.

Offer any advice you have for today’s PR practitioner.
You don’t have to be super creative, but we open-minded to learning new technology and read blogs every day to get ideas.

When you’re not working, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to spend time with my family and cook.

PR changed my life. I can’t imagine doing anything else.
