PRSA-NCC announces partnership with Institute for Public Relations

for research, measurement, and evaluation category for the 2015 Thoth Awards
April 26, 2015

The Public Relations Society of America’s National Capital Chapter (PRSA-NCC) is partnering with the Institute for Public Relations (IPR) to judge and present the research category at this year’s 47th Annual Thoth Awards and Gala. The Thoth Awards recognize the most outstanding, strategic public relations programs and products developed and produced in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area in 35 categories.

The IPR Measurement Commission will judge the “Research, Measurement, and Evaluation” category. Each submission will be judged on the quality of program objectives and research design, how measurement and evaluation were integrated into program execution, and the effectiveness of the methodology in program evaluation. Entries must include the research methodology and the key findings.

“Research and measurement are key aspects of the public relations process that most effectively demonstrate the value of our profession to our clients and leadership,” said Mitch Marovitz, Ph.D., APR, PRSA-NCC president. “We’re honored that the IPR is recognizing our chapter by offering to serve as the judges for a metrics category that will showcase the quality of work performed in the Capital region.”

Named for the Egyptian god of communication, the Thoth (pronounced “tot”) Awards recognize and reward outstanding achievement in public relations and to encourage continued excellence in the field. Details on each of the 35 categories and submission guidelines are available at https://www.prsa-ncc.org/2015-thoth-call-entries.

“Awards are one of the most effective ways to recognize great use of research and measurement in public relations programs, and to share with PR practitioners what a winner looks like,” said Michelle Hinson, chair of the IPR Measurement Commission and the director of PR Measurement for CyberAlert. “We’re so pleased to partner with PRSA-NCC on this addition to the Thoth Awards.”

Finalists in each Thoth Award category are notified in late July, following the judging of the entries by senior practitioners. From these finalists, the Thoth Award and the Award of Excellence winners will be announced at the Thoth Award’s Gala that will take place on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at The National Press Club in Washington, DC.
